recently there was a kilim & gabbeh expo here in kyoto. i was curious how they were woven and easily slipped down the rabbit hole for a few hours on youtube watching video after video related to persian carpet making. it`s amazing how some artisans around the world elevate the term `artisan` to a whole new level - i`ll have to post on silk spinning & weaving techniques here in japan soon too, it`s amazing. this video by unesco on carpet weaving in Fars is particularly interesting, even detailing the harvesting, dyeing and spinning of the wool;
